Hello everyone, we continue our teachings related to
Spirit Talk and building the kingdom from the inside out. This topic is on our authority
over evil. I just want to start at the finish line and then we’ll build from there. Jesus
won! Jesus is the victory. Jesus attained the victory.
Jesus did everything that was needed to disarm, defeat,
disempower our enemy and his enemy. And when we enter into Jesus
into him we enter into his victory and we too are the victory.
Battle is won over the enemy to defeat the enemy. That’s the end
of the story. Now let’s back that up with some scripture.
Okay, Colossians 2:15. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced
them publicly. He triumphed over them by him.
Every demon, principality, power, every evil entity of every kind
was required to participate in that total defeat. None of them are
waiting to be defeated or know that defeat might happen to them.
They know they’re defeated. They know they have no power. They know every armor has been
taken. Weapons have been removed from them. They just don’t want
you and me to know that. But once we know that, the battle is won.
Because the victory is already attained and we are part of that victory. Here’s
another scripture. I saw an angel coming down from heaven with a key to the abyss and a great chain in
his hand. He sees the dragon that ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan and bound him
for a thousand years. He threw him into the abyss, closed it, put a seal on it so that he
could no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. Two points there.
It only took one angel with a chain to completely arrest and imprison
our greatest enemy. Okay, and look what was
taken from him so that he could no longer deceive the nations.
Why did the angel not take from our enemy his weapons, his power,
his this or his that, that we imagine that he has? Because he no longer
has it. The only thing that he has left is the ability to deceive.
Even then, that was easily taken from him by one angel. Let’s look at Ephesians.
Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength, by his vast strength.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.
Take up the full armor of God. Okay, are we told that we must
stand against the weapons, the power, the authority, the armor
of the enemy? No, the only thing Paul is directing us to stand against
is the schemes. And that means the deception, the tricks of the enemy.
And why is Paul saying stand against that? Because Paul knows that’s all he’s got now.
Okay, how do we put on the full armor of God? The better you know Jesus, the
more you enter into his victory, the more of his vast strength that you
can enjoy to stand against the deception of the enemy. Paul wants
you to put on salvation, put on righteousness, put on faith, put on the Word of God,
put on the gospel of peace, put on truth, and pray in all things.
Okay, now he expresses that as the helmet of salvation when we put
salvation on our head, what are we putting on our head? Who is our salvation?
Jesus. The breastplate is our righteousness. Who is our righteousness? Jesus.
Paul is saying, put on Jesus here, salvation, put on Jesus here, as righteousness.
Put on Jesus down here, as truth. Put on your feet, peace, which is Jesus.
Put on, take up the word, who is Jesus. Hey, who is Jesus?
Paul is saying, abide in Jesus. When you’re clothed with Jesus,
you will no longer be deceived. The better you know Jesus, the less
you will believe the lies the enemy has to tell. Because Jesus is truth,
how do you combat the lie? You combat deception and the lie with truth. The better
you know truth, the better you are abiding in truth,
the less likely you will be deceived, the less likely you will be deceived, the less
the enemy can do to hurt you. And this last one, be alert and of sober mind. The
enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to
devour. Okay, that picture of the lion. What do you notice about that picture that’s odd or interesting?
This lion has no teeth. How does a lion hunt?
We know that a lion hunts like a cat hunts, quitely sneaking up on its enemy,
pouncing with claws and teeth to capture an enemy who does not see them coming.
But a lion that has no teeth and no claws. How can he hunt? Lions don’t hunt
by roaring. They hunt by sneaking up on people because they have weapons that can destroy them.
The ones they catch. But a lion, his only weapon left, is his roar.
If he can roar loud enough and hard enough to cause us to freeze in fear,
he can swallow us with his toothless mouth. Think about
that. The enemy has no longer any power over you, unless you give in to his
power by his fear and deception by deceiving you that
he is powerful with his roar. Okay.
I want to tell you a story that I experienced that brought this message home for me. I was lying on the
floor on the carpet in a wonderful worship service in Toronto, Canada during the revival
there years ago and I saw an open vision. I saw myself as a little
girl riding with Jesus on his beautiful white horse and we were walking through
a gray, dark place and there were battles on both sides
of us. There were demons fighting men, men fighting demons. They all had swords. They were man,
demon fighting sword to sword and mostly the men were losing. It was a dismal
sight and one man that I was watching in particular was
almost defeated. He had one knee to the ground and he was looking
up, fighting the demon looking up at the demon because the demon was actually shorter than he
was. But because he was on one knee, the demon was looking down at him. And
then the man turned and got a glimpse of Jesus on the white horse.
And when he saw Jesus, he yelled out, “Help!” And as soon as he yelled,
“Help!” Jesus looked up overhead. And when he looked up overhead,
we saw this amazing, powerful army host of heaven,
the host of heaven, with all of their weapons of destruction, they had
powerful weapons. And there were lions, there was fierce animals in that army.
And there was one angel in particular that had a bow with a drawn arrow. And he had been following a target,
but not releasing the arrow. And when Jesus looked at the angel, the angel looked
at Jesus with this, “Help!” And Jesus nodded, “Yes,” the
angel, released the arrow. It hit the demon in his back. It had a big
red and white target on the back of this thing. And when the angel hit it, the demon went
and was no more. The problem was, the man on his
knee had turned away from the demon. As he was yelling toward Jesus
on his white horse. And he did not look behind him to see that
his enemy had already been destroyed. And he continued to yell in
that space where he had seen Jesus. And he was there just,
“Help! Help! Help!” With the most pitiful begging
sound. Jesus, with me on the white
horse, we just kept on walking down the battlefield. Left the
man, looking behind us, where he had first seen Jesus
yelling, “How?” It was very disturbing. I was very upset by that.
I was just like, “Oh, wow!” All this army overhead, doing
nothing, and all these people on either side of me with demons, losing the battle
to the demons, I was just undone. And I said to Jesus,
“What must happen here?” And I heard Jesus say to me, “I’m
sending you to tell him.” “Oh,
so I’m now telling you, how
can the enemy hurt us?” And what can we do about it? The enemy can hurt us,
because somebody did something somewhere, or we
have believed lies. Most difficult sins that the enemy
can take hold of, and gain something over us to hurt us, or violence, sexual
perversion, and idolatry. When we believe lies, when we commit
these grievous sins and other sins, somebody did something somewhere to give the enemy
access to us. Usually built on lies of deception, because the truth is,
even though somebody did something somewhere, there was violence, sexual perversion, and idolatry
by ourselves or in our family line, or in our communities, the blood of Jesus
covers all of our sins, all of our iniquities, all of our rebellions, and it’s just a matter of coming back
to Jesus, coming into Jesus, and in Jesus we have the complete and total victory.
The solution is not in our ability to go hand in hand, sword to sword
combat with demons. The solution is always every time
in our relationship with God.
Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word,
you really are my disciples. You will know the truth and the truth
will set you free. How do you combat a lie? You combat it with truth.
How do you know truth? You know Jesus. We are his disciples, we get to know
him better and in that place of truth is the solution.
It’s not in our ability to battle and win a battle. It’s in our ability to enter
in and agree with and abide in truth who is Jesus. That’s
our victory. He is our victory. He is our
truth. He is our freedom. So the more we know Jesus,
the more we know about him and his ways, the more strength and
authority and power we have over our enemy who can only do
harm to us if we are intimidated by his roar, by his
deception, by his trickery. As we expose the deceptions and
the trickery, the power of the enemy over us to harm us, shrinks and shrinks
and shrinks until it’s just a little fly, we can flicker off with our little finger.
Okay, let’s go deeper into knowing the truth of who we are in the finished work of
the cross of Jesus Christ in the victory. That is his and his ours
as we abide in him. First, the new birth, the new birth as we
talked about before, changes our position. We die to the race of Adam.
We are born into the God race. We are born of God with his divine nature
and his position seated with him in heavenly places.
Far above all, principality and power and anything that would come against us.
Our spirits are pure, holy, righteous, divine light. Our
sin cannot penetrate our spirits. Think of our spirits as made of a
hardest substance in and out of this creation. Because our spirits
come from another world, they come from the essence of God. And the essence of God
cannot be penetrated. We are harder than diamonds in the natural.
Sin cannot penetrate us. Think of your spirit as Teflon spirits. Diamond,
hardest, diamond, hardest substance in all of creation cannot be penetrated
with sin. In righteousness, you are blameless. Who can bring
an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns?
Christ Jesus is the one who died. But even more, has been raised. He also is at the right
hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the law of Christ.
This is you and me. And everyone else who is born again, hidden in Christ.
We cannot be penetrated by sin or by the enemy when
we are hidden in Christ. The new birth, together
with water baptism, puts us under a new government. We’ve talked about this in other teachings so I won’t
dwell too long on this. But here’s the summary. We are crucified in Christ. We die
to the kingdoms of this world. We are redomiciled and that’s a legal term.
That means your citizenship is no longer in one kingdom, but is redomiciled
or moved legally into a different kingdom. Before your born again
experience, you lived and was a part of and was born into the kingdom of darkness.
Through your born again experience and water baptism where you are crucified with Christ, you become
fully redomiciled according to Psalm 87, even with a new
birthplace and a new birth certificate into the kingdom of God.
You are fully citizens of heaven. You are no longer
citizens of this earth. And as citizens of heaven and not citizens
of the earth, you cannot be taxed legally by the kingdoms of this
world. You are free from the laws
of the kingdoms of this world. Now the enemy might try to convince you,
oh because you did this, this, I have a right to do this and that. No,
the enemy does not have that right, because you are free from the written codes and
laws and contracts and agreements of the kingdom of darkness. Because first, that old you
that sinned is crucified with Christ, buried in the grave of water baptism.
And secondly, you are now fully 100% citizens of heaven and you answer
to that king who is the king of all kings. He is the one who judges
us and decides what we deserve and what we don’t deserve. The enemy has
no right to do that in our behalf, no more than we have a right to do that against
ourselves. Okay, let’s keep going. I want to tell you a story
about Jesus is the resurrection. I’ll try to shorten it and not bog us down with too
much of what the enemy can do against people. But I worked with a young woman who had been raised
in a very evil environment as a young child, with a lot of
occult and witchcraft activity around her. And she was actually brought
to the point of death more than once in different situations
where she was drowned, buried alive, hung with a noose, purposefully
in rituals that brought her very, very, very close to the point of death.
And then was resurrected out of that with the total intent of gaining
complete control over her life, which they had for a season.
We went into the court of heaven to break those contracts and covenants
that the enemy was holding sway over her to control her. And we went
through the process which we cover in a different teaching so won’t repeat it here. But we got to the very
end where we were clearing the courtroom of any accusers who might still
be present. And one accuser did not leave. Everyone else
left but this one. And I asked this one what makes you think you have a right
to still be here accusing this daughter of the living God.
And this entity said to me, “I was the one who raised her from the dead.”
And therefore he thought that because he had raised her in those rituals, he had sway
over her. He had authority in her life. And something rose
up in me such a indignation and anger to
defend God’s honor in that situation.
And I responded to him, “The one you think you raised, that one already
died and is gone.” The one who really raised her from the dead is the Lord Jesus
Christ in HIS resurrection. And you have no authority
over this woman, except I said it with a lot more force because I was pretty wound up by how dare you say,
“You are her resurrection,” because Jesus says to us, “I am
the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live,
even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will
never die.” Now I was so beat up and so damaged
by the enemy before I came to Christ, that part of my spirit was actually trapped
in death, and I truly did need a real resurrection to new life
of my spirit, and when God brought me up out of death and brought
the teacher portion of my spirit up from the dead, it was a resurrection
for me. I watched that happen. I watched him bring her up from
the dead as her resurrection, and that teacher portion of my spirit
lives in resurrection life. I feel her right now just in resurrection
life. Nothing absolutely nothing can stand between you
and resurrection life. You, my dear son, daughter of God,
you have resurrection life in you. If Christ lives in you, you are part
of the resurrection and death has no sting. Death has no power.
And if you feel like you are dead and a part of you has died, I declare
to you now. Come forth, come out of the grave, come
up! Holy Spirit, bring that one up out of the grave, out of death, out of
entanglements with death. Just as you did, the Lord Jesus Christ, after He had been
three days in the grave, Spirit of God, you resurrected him. He is the resurrection
and I say to everyone listening here, be resurrected,
come into, step into your resurrection, believe it, receive it,
it’s yours. Okay, with all of that preamble, let’s now talk about
deliverance. My theology about deliverance was built,
founded on the first experience I had with deliverance and it was a doozy. I had
just been saved, maybe just a few hours. It was later in the evening
after I had that encounter with Jesus where I had surrendered my life for him. Jesus had filled
me with His Holy Spirit. I was speaking in tongues. I was transformed in a powerful
way by the power of Jesus in His resurrection life in me. And I was sitting
on the floor in my room at home, praying in tongues, and two demons came into the room, and one
on the left, or another on the right, and they were coming at me, and I knew they could take me out. Until
that moment, with the theology that I have been raised with, I didn’t even believe in demons. Somehow
I read about them in the Bible, but I thought, “Oh, that was Bible times. That’s not now. We don’t have demons now.” Because I can’t see any demons. There’s
no demons, right? I mean, that was the naivety I was living in until those two came in the room.
And my theology changed pretty fast. They’re dangerous. They look dangerous. And I knew they could
take me out, and I prepared to die in that moment, except Holy Spirit
had entered me earlier that day. And I knew Holy Spirit was in me.
And Holy Spirit opened my mouth and said one word through me go.
And when Holy Spirit said go, that demon, those two demons went, and they
were gone. A simple go from Holy Spirit is all
it takes to oust the enemy, cast out the enemy. It does not
have to be a really big deal. It really does not. It’s simple go.
And you have the authority. They must go. And then there was another experience the
Lord gave me. I saw myself as a white column of solid essence
of God. And Jesus was cleansing me. And I had mud
on me and he was cleansing me. And there was this black being crawling around on me.
And with one little finger he flipped, flicked it off
just like flicking off a bug. And when Jesus did that I
knew that was him flicking a demon off me. And once again twice
now I had seen how easy it was. Holy Spirit said go. And it went.
Jesus flicks with his little finger; demon gone. That
was what Jesus and Holy Spirit taught me at the beginning. But sadly enough folks this
is what I got once I got involved with church. This
was me. A lot of shouting and screaming over me
with microphone in hand, people gulking, watching and me with absolutely
no dignity left, screaming and wallowing in the floor with my four little girls watching.
And I hate to say how many times that happened because I needed a lot of a deliverance
when I was first born again. I had been raised in a lot of sin, rebellion and iniquity
and the enemy had done a lot to me and I needed to be free and
this was the freedom I received in the early days. It set me free, the demons had
to leave. Many of them came back because in that condition of that poor woman on the floor,
she has very little authority in the matter. It’s been
done to her. She doesn’t have the opportunity there
to exercise her own authority or dignity or keep her honor
in any way and in experiences like that.
You do not learn that you have authority over demons. You learn somebody else does if
there’s a lot of shouting and humiliation involved. And that’s what I learned at the beginning
and it seems like somehow I just forgot what God had taught me because this is what the body of Christ was
practicing at the time. And I remember at one point in that process which
lasted for several years, I’m sorry to say, I asked the Lord
if you ever put me in a place that I have that authority to minister deliverance
to someone. I pray that you will show me a different way
to do it. So they learn their own authority and
can minister their own deliverance between you and them with dignity and authority.
And even though others are involved, even though I might be involved,
let me never shame and humiliate someone like this poor woman in this picture is.
And so that brings me to this picture.
After some time of ministering deliverance and helping people
see that when we receive deliverance from demons,
we personally have more authority over the demons that might
be vexing us than a minister does. That’s because
it’s my body, my spirit, my soul, my life. And I have authority over me,
more than any man or woman has authority over me.
So if you can coach another person to minister deliverance to cast their own demons out,
they know from that experience. Oh, wow, I have the authority here. If this thing comes back, I know what to
do. I know I can do it. And then you’ve empowered them and authorized them
and given them permission to have authority over the demons trying to attack
them. And that’s with the soul, but the spirit. Oh,
my, the spirit has so much more authority over evil than the soul does
because the spirit is spirit. And these evil entities are also spirits.
So in the spirit realm, the spirit is in its own environment in
its own atmosphere of authority. Now, the first time
someone coached my spirit to execute authority over demons vexing
my spirit. This is pretty much right here the picture I saw. I saw the
servant portion of my spirit standing on a high mountain and
flicked his hand out toward a whole army of demons. They were actually
further in the distance than this picture shows but you get the idea. He flicked his hand
toward them and out of his finger came a lightning bolt and it went “shhhish”
and took out the whole entire army. They were gone. Our
spirit knows their connection with God. Our spirits
know they are created in the essence of God. Our spirits know
God better than we do. And our spirits know they stand in the
victory. And the weapons of warfare, our spirit uses, are entirely
different than the weapons of warfare, our souls attempt to use.
Our souls tend to want to fight hand-to-hand combat sword to sword with entities
of evil. But our spirit does warfare like God does warfare, read Psalm
18, and look for all of the weapons of warfare that God used to
deliver David. He used the wind, he used the lightning bolts, he
used the hail, he used thunder, he used his voice,
he used the weapons of the atmosphere for the most part. And the servant
portions of our spirits, they have authority over the atmosphere.
And this here is a picture of my servant using the atmosphere and the lightning
in the atmosphere to take out the enemy. When our spirits do
warfare, they do it from high down. And they never have to engage,
touching close within close vicinity. Think of David and Goliath, Saul and
Goliath, both tried to talk David into using sword to sword combat, may the
most powerful man win. And David said, “Thank you. I don’t
believe I will do warfare like that. I have a better idea. I’ll just stand
at a distance and I will use a little thing, and sling a stone. And I’ll depend
on my God to defeat my enemy and take him out
The enemy was already defeated. Because the enemy did not have a covenant with God and
David knew he did. That’s the difference. And for you and me, that’s it too. You
and I, we have a covenant with God. We are blameless. We are positioned with him.
We have his victory. The enemy has been disempowered. No weapons
left except trickery. And Jesus is the truth
and easily take care of that. Okay, now what fun this
is. Okay, one last slide.
Decoding the lie and finding a solution can go a lot faster
with a couple of principles that we all need to keep in mind as
we approach the enemy. Every attack from the enemy is always every
time against the character and nature of God. The enemy
hates God and wants us to separate us from God.
And anything he can do to separate us from the love of God makes us weak
and easily they can take us out because we’ll be on the outside and
they can take off the weak ones at the bottom at the end of the line.
So when you’re looking at a stronghold of the enemy, begin first with what
is the lie about God that is separating us from His love.
And once you see the lie, you see it’s always at its root a lie against
His character and His nature. And it usually has something to do with He’s
withholding good from me or you. And
if we start there, He’s withholding something I need or want or is important to me,
especially withholding Himself. In that place, we can see
what the enemy is up to, to lie to us, about the goodness and loving nature
of our God. And the whole intent is to separate us. Two spirits
that I had to face multiple times is the Antichrist spirit.
It says, Jesus is not loving enough big enough strong enough caring enough powerful enough to help me.
He’s just that weak little Jesus that’s so
far from me and cares so little for me. And even if he did care, he’s just little, not
much to me. And then the other lie which comes
from the first lie. Jesus has not done for me all that he says
he has done for me and is not for me and with me in the way he says he is.
The queen of heaven says, I’m just a worm. I’m just little.
Jesus is weak and so am I. I’m a worm. I deserve nothing from God. I’m inadequate.
I’m a failure. I’m this. I’m that. How could God ever care to deliver me and help
me and set me on high places? You put those two spirits together to attack against the
nature and character of God which leads to an attack against the nature and character
of me created in his image, the enemy wins big time. But it’s all with lies.
The solution is the better you know Jesus and the more you know about him and his ways, the more authority
you have over the enemy. And it’s not
about casting out demons so much as it is making room for Jesus to come into
the situation. When you see a big old nest of the enemy,
step back and think how do I invite Jesus into this
situation? Because when Jesus comes into the situation,
the enemy flees. You don’t have to cast them out. They’ll be way gone before you turn back
and look. And this has happened for me many times in ministry. The person
I’m ministering to sees this and knows there’s this big old nest of the enemy here tormenting
me. Okay, are we going to just charge in against the tormentors.
A better way to go about it is where is Jesus? What is he doing? What does
he want to do? Does he want to take up the space? Can we invite him into
the space? How do we align with Jesus? How do we bring
righteousness into the situation? There’s a scripture in Jude,
I think it’s verse 24 and it’s about righteousness
is a scepter and when we invite righteousness as a scepter, freedom
comes. A scepter represents authority. Our authority
over the enemy, our authority to speak life and truth into a situation
is dependent upon how big and strong and aligned we are with Jesus and His righteousness.
The more righteousness in me, the more light I bring and
the more of darkness I can display. That’s the heart of the matter. I
hope that you can enter into that with me. Let me know how it works.
Thank you.
